The firm’s litigation attorneys have long been recognized for their expertise in commercial and non-commercial litigation, utilizing innovative strategies throughout the pre-trial, trial and appellate process to secure favorable and cost-effective results for our clients. We appear regularly before federal, state and local courts, before arbitral and administrative tribunals, and in mediation.  Because a number of our attorneys were formerly judges and others serve as arbitrators and mediators we understand dispute resolution from the perspective of advocates and case-deciders.

Our commercial litigation practice includes all types of business related disputes including breach of contract, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and other business torts; dissolution of companies and partnerships; the enforcement of, or challenge to, restrictive covenants and non-compete agreements; trade secret disputes; shareholder derivative claims along with countless types of disputes that arise among business owners.  We understand that business disputes typically call for a business solution and work with our clients to resolve their controversies quickly and cost effectively.  We also routinely litigate insurance coverage claims; real estate and land dispute matters; commercial landlord-tenant proceedings; adversary actions and other bankruptcy cases; municipal law; and other commercial and business related administrative and regulatory proceedings.  In conjunction with our other specialized departments, we also handle class actions, civil rights actions and zoning and related environmental matters, together with labor law and employment matters as well as substantial construction law matters. This array of experience and expertise enables us to handle most disputes which business clients confront, and affords our clients the ability to be represented in their cases by a single firm.

Our philosophy concerning dispute resolution and our business experience gained from being part of the management team of public and privately held companies distinguishes us from other law firms.  Using a client-focused approach, we devise a strategy consistent with the client’s business goals.  This includes determining if litigation can be avoided and, if not, the quickest and most economical solutions to obtain favorable outcomes.  Again, because our litigation group includes former judges and experienced practitioners we know how to successfully prepare and try a case and win an appeal. We also understand the benefits and practical business considerations involved in alternate dispute resolution which often allow us to achieve desired outcomes by mediation or arbitration, or simply through skilled negotiation and settlement.

Aside from our commercial and business litigation practice, we actively represent parties, both plaintiffs and defendants, in personal injury litigation including industrial accident cases, claims against municipalities, product liability, auto accident and other types of injury claims.  Insurance carriers call on our attorneys to serve as special counsel. Individuals look to us to secure compensation when they are seriously injured. Our capabilities in personal injury and insurance law have secured outstanding results in these negligence cases, serving another segment of our clientele offering full service capabilities.

Finally, to best serve our clients, the Firm applies the most sophisticated technology available to its practice, including premier research tools and highly advanced document management, review and algorithmic driven analysis systems for complex, document intensive matters.
